How do you tell if you have real Lego?

When I started buying Lego for my kids, I was buying used Lego.  Often mixed up in a bin.  What I quickly realized is that not all Lego is made equal. What I mean by that is that any type of building brick that looks like Lego is just called Lego.  Even if it is not real authentic Lego. Sometimes it is another brand like Mega Blocks, which looks like Lego, for the most part is compatible with Lego, but is definitely NOT Lego. So I've had to start to separate out the Lego from the non-Lego.  I have nothing against Mega Blocks, (I actually have a really awesome Star Trek Mega Blocks set), but I really do prefer Lego.  I think their quality is much more superior than Mega Blocks and other kinds of building blocks. The video above provides you a couple tips of how to tell if you are buying real Lego vs. something else.
